10 Ways to Tell if Your New Facebook Friend is a Spam Bot
If you're anything like us, you have a hard time telling the difference between a female who you've met in reall life and have a genuine relationship with and a bot who wants nothing more than to show your her x-rated webcam. You see that sexy profile pic and just aren't sure if it is an old friend from high school or an imaginary person created to get you to enter your credit card information on an adult entertainment website. Fear not, intrepid Internet traveller, we have a few pointers to help you spot those pesky porn bots before they spam your email account and empty your bank account. For those of you who never learned the lesson that if something is too good to be true, then it probably is, we're here to remind you that the only time you get propositioned by attractive women on the Internet is in your dreams. Here are 10 Ways to Tell If Your New Facebook Friend is a Spam Bot.
default
10. She Wants to Show You Her Webcam
What women do you know personally that have their own webcam? Does your sister have an X-rated webcam? Does you mother have an X-rated webcam? Then what makes you think that someone else's sister or mother would have an X-rated webcam, unless they knew it could turn a profit? The closest thing to a webcam that women run for free are shitty vlogs where they share their feelings and favorite recipes. Think about how hard you have to work to convince a girl to send you a sexy selfie, let along a video.
A handy rhyme we use around the office: "Invite to a webcam means it's a web-sham."
9. She Wants A Lot of Personal Info
When was the last time someone encouraged you to talk about yourself? We imagine most of you answered "Kindergarden" or "AA." People don't want to hear about others if it doesn't provide them with an excuse to talk about thmeselves. If a sexy lady is chatting you up online and she asks you questions about you, it is time to get suspicious. Don't be tricked into giving away sensitive information just because "someone" is finally asking you about yourself. You might not think that it feels great to be asked questions about yourself if those questions involve routing and social security numbers, but in this cold, lonely world, being asked anything yourself can leave you vulnerable and willing to share your deepest financial secrets. Keep your guard up. That porn bot might just try to get to your wallet by tugging at your heartstrings.
8. Her Grammar Leaves Something to Be Desired
To be fair, pretty much everyone's grammar is terrible on the Internet. That being said, there is a clear difference between a friend who is being a tad casual with their syntax and a bot who misspells every other word. While we do our best not to let grammar impact our opinion of real people, we have no problem criticizing the grammar of machines. We have a built in excuse for our poor grammar: the frailty of human nature. What is the bot's excuse? Shouldn't computer generated people be able to spell by now?
7. She Wants to Show You Her "Amateur Sex Videos"
Don't get us wrong: if an actual woman wants to show you her homemade sex videos, that's a keeper. Shower her with gifts and take her home to Mom, because you're not going to do any better. Sorry to burst your bubble, but we have searched high and low for a woman who would share our interest in her making amateur pornos, and we have come up empty-handed every time. Though we are more than willing to show our amateur sex videos to ladies in some sort of barter situation, the only women we've found who are interesting in showing us their dirty videos are either created by the Internet or by our own imaginations.
6. You Look Back One Day and She's Gone
Just like so many actual loves, you may look back one day only to realize all trace of your digital love has disappeared. When real life love dries up, you can often find some kind of solace in the correspondance you shared with your inamorata when the flame of your love burned brightest. Even the beautiful sexy messages of a porn bot may be lost with time. When she is marked as spam or banned from Facebook, the poetic webcam offers from your favorite porn bot may be lost to you forever. The beautiful words of your love may be replaced with the dreaded phrase, "This message is no longer available because it was identified as abusive or marked as spam," which might be the coldest break-up note a man can receive.
5. She Don't Have A Lot to Say
Most men can appreciate an enigmatic woman of few words, but sometimes these bots push the limit. After starting out with a simple, "hi" or an emoji smiley face, they often repeat the same phrase over and over again, bludgeoning you into flirty chat submission. Just when you think that "she" won't be invite you to video chat again, there is another message in your inbox repeating the same phrase "she" has been throwing at you for months.
It's enough to make you want to turn down her request to video chat ... almost.

What are the pros and cons to code bots and scrapers in Node.JS?
Pros:
- Fast to write and easy to reason about
- Levereging non-blocking IO. You can run N instances and get nice results(where N is cpu core number)
- Everyone knows JS
- Probably easiest way to manipulate JSON ever
Cons:
- Not so fast
- !!! Dumb RegExp !!! (No lookbehinds)
- Not trully multicore - just one independent instance per core.
- Error prone

The 17 best bots on Twitter
Counted among Twitter’s 271 million active users are an untold numberof bots. These accounts were created by people with a pulse but tweet without human intervention. Some are handy, others beautiful, many peculiar. Bots, it should be said, are some of the most productive members of Twitter’s society.
But while humans are showered with praise for their tweets, bots have not traditionally received the same love. Never again! We have compiled a list of Twitter’s best bots.
To determine eligibility, we didn’t perform a Turing test but did require that the account be automated (sorry, @Horse_ebooks) and still actively tweeting. Where it was possible to determine the bot’s creator, we noted it here, but who’s to say those people aren’t actually bots themselves?

Choosing a Chat Bot
One of the latest trends on Twitch right now is having a Twitch chat bot that provides different functions in your chat. While many of these bots can be helpful, there are certain features that I would personally not vouch for if you’re looking to grow the size of your stream. Today, we’ll discuss some of the more popular bots and big no-no’s if you intend to use them!
Nightbots, and Moobots, and Xanbots, Oh My!
If you’ve decided that you want to have some sort of bot in your chat the next step in the process is choosing which bot you want to use. There are quite a few options out there so deciding on one can be somewhat difficult. Thankfully, Twitch User dhamster has compiled a really nice comparison spreadsheet that goes over all the functions of the most popular bots! You can check out the spreadsheet here.
*Note – this sheet is a little outdated, and dhamster has told me he might be updating it soon, but a lot of the info is still relevant.*
Here’s my quick summary of the three most popular bots:

XanBot
Pros: Anti-Spam, Raffles, Completely Free, Timed Messages
Cons: No Dashboard bot set up run mostly through chat use, Display only Song Requests
NightBot
Pros: Enhanced Song Requests, Anti-Spam, Raffles, Helpful Dashboard, Timed Messages
Cons: No Sub Notifier, Some features require you to pay
MooBot
Pros: Anti-Spam, Raffles, Helpful Dashboard, Timed Messages
Cons: Some Features require you to pay, Display only Song Requests
I personally use Moobot due to how easy it is to set up for my stream. Just go to moobot.tv and link your twitch account, and you’ll be able to manage the bot in its entirety from the easy to use dashboard on the website.

Commands Are Your Friend
So once you’ve chosen a bot, it’s time to customize it to your liking. One of the best features of any popular bot on Twitch is the command option. Commands allow you to give out information that your viewers want to know, without you having to talk about the information every time someone asks in your stream. Information like your social media links, what game you’re playing, how long you’ve been streaming, or any FAQ about your stream can all be added as commands for most bots. By simply assigning a command such as !links, users will be able to easily access this important information.
If there are certain commands that you want your viewers seeing all the time, you can add a timer so that the bot always posts the information over a given interval. Be careful with how often you set the timer. I would always recommend that the timers are separated by at least 20 minutes otherwise they will take up the whole chat.
Bots can also be used to moderate your chat and time users out who spam and cause a ruckus in your chat. While this option is very helpful for huge streams that average over 5000 viewers, I would say it’s definitely not necessary for a small stream.
Fudge Muffins
If there is one big suggestion that I would make, it would be to stay away from any type of feature that rewards people for spamming. I see a lot of streams that have bots that allow users to continuously win imaginary things like cookies, muffins, tokens, and then use these monetary objects to purchase imaginary prizes. Do not do this! If I’m a new viewer and I come into a stream I want to chat in, and all I see spam commands being used, I’m going to have no desire to chat. While it may seem that these bots are getting your users involved in the chat, it’s actually creating an atmosphere for no interaction.
I used to have a bot for a game I called pieBux. Whenever someone would put the !piebux command in after a certain amount of time, they would either randomly gain or lose piebux. At the end of the month, whoever had the most would win a steam game. While this was a cool idea at first, it quickly turned into huge amounts of spam where everyday viewers actually complained and left. Learn from my mistakes and avoid these types of games.
Conclusion
Overall, I would say bots are a good addition to a small stream that is looking to grow. They can provide important information to your viewers that allow you to focus on playing the game instead of answering the same question over and over. They can also be used to facilitate cool functions such as song requests and raffles. Just be mindful of how they affect your chat in regards to spam. Having fun bot commands that include inside jokes in your stream are perfectly fine, but as you grow they can be harder to manage. At the end of the day, if you don’t feel like having a bot in your stream you’re not losing out on too much, so it really comes down to what you prefer.

Benefits of doing business online
You don't have to run your entire business over the internet to benefit from online business opportunities. Small businesses might only need an email address to communicate with their clients, customers and suppliers electronically. Other businesses might use their website to conduct their entire business online.
The many benefits of online business include:
- global access, 24 hours a day, 7 days a week
- improved client service through greater flexibility
- cost savings
- faster delivery of products
- increased professionalism
- less paper waste
- opportunities to manage your business from anywhere in the world.
Customers may prefer to visit your website to find out about your products and services, instead of visiting you in person. They will also expect to see your website address and your email on business cards and other promotional materials.

- run an online shop

Future opportunities
Keep in mind that your business, as well as the variety of online tools available, is constantly changing and evolving. While you might not plan to have a website immediately when you start operating, it's still a good idea to think about whether you will need one at a later date and what you will use it for.
When you are planning the online aspects of your business, you should:
- research your competitors and other businesses that use online tools
- decide what aspects of online business will benefit your business
- review your budget to work out what you can afford
- familiarise yourself with any laws and regulations that will apply to your online business activities
- consider your requirements, including what software you need and what types of computer equipment you need to run it
- plan for risks, such as computer viruses, scams, data theft and loss of or damage to hardware
- think about what training you or your staff might need
- be realistic about the time and budget you will need to manage the online aspects of your business.

Bots are battling for restaurant reservations in San Francisco
Online reservations are supposed to make snagging a table a breeze, but when it comes to in-demand restaurants, the process is going the way of stock trading and concerts on Ticketmaster: Pretty soon you’re going to get beaten by bots, big time.
Diogo Mónica, a security engineer at payment start-up Square, was trying to find a seat at the popular San Francisco eatery State Bird Provisions on the restaurant reservation site Urbanspoon. Tables can be booked up to 60 days in advance, with new time slots opening up every day at 4:00 a.m. By 4:01, they were gone. “It quickly became obvious,”he wrote on his blog, “that these were reservation bots at work.”
To retaliate, Ars Technica reports, Mónica wrote his own computer code to check for available reservations and grab them on his behalf. “You fight fire with fire,” he said, “so I made my own reservation bot.” At last, a table was his. He then released the code online to level the playing field—at least for anyone who knows how to run a ruby script.
It’s a great story and a win for Mónica, but it’s not exactly a happy ending. With bots fighting bots, we’re setting ourselves up for a world in which the hottest restaurant reservations can only be purchased from scalpers at exorbitant prices. Mónica, for his part, joked on Twitter that he will have to take a page from high-frequency traders for the next round of battle: Now that everyone has access to his code, he’ll have to set up shop as close as possible to the reservation system’s server to beat everyone else by a microsecond or two.
